Long Beach Claims 2nd World Championship Title

By Jey Jones I March 23, 2009

With an impressive 19-0 season record and a final point total of 2250; LB All-Stars (CA) becomes the first 2-time 8v8 Contact Flag Football World Champions…..

The fourth 8v8 Contact Flag Football World Championship was claimed by the Long Beach All-Stars, after defeating All-Met (MD) 6-3 in the 2008-09 Flag Football World Championship IV title game.

Long Beach was by far the most impressive 8v8 team in the nation finishing undefeated on the WC Circuit at 19-0 and accumulated a whopping 2250 total points; and becoming the first team to win back-to-back WC 8v8 Contact Championship titles.

The All-Stars hit the ground running vs. HUH (MD) posting a 30-6 win, before cooling a bit with a tie by a surprising No Limit (NV) team during the opening rounds on Saturday.

However, LB quickly found their groove early in the Single-Elimination rounds the following Sunday, by defeating TMT (NV) 14-6 and edging out a strong Bears (UT) team 24-20, which propelled them into the title game vs. All-Met (MD).

LB has been on an unbelievable tear that has spanned 2 years and counting, inducing much comparison to the SD Swarm (CA).  The last time the All-Stars actually lost a game in tournament play on the WC Circuit was during the Flag Football World Championships II in Dallas, TX to Quick 6 out of Utah.

Since their loss in the WCII, Long Beach has participated in 10 WC tournaments with an overall record of 49-0-1.

Tournaments:

3 Pacific National Championships
2 California Championships
2 Western National Championship
2 World Championships.
